AKON Live Concert 2011
AKON Live Concert India 2011,
Netsurf Entertainment together with B.M Group, Invo Events and Production and Thrive Entertainment organized Akon concerts at Huda Grounds, Gurgaon and Gayatri Vihar Palace Grounds, Bengaluru on April 16 and 17 respectively.
Commenting on the initiative, Jon Talarico, CEO, Thrive Entertainment said, "It was after the private performance that I arranged for Akon in Pune in December 2010 that I began putting together full size concerts for all of India to enjoy. This April is just the beginning."
Commenting on why Mumbai was not one of the chosen locations for the concert, Sujit Jain, Managing Director, Netsurf Entertainment said, "The lack of infrastructure and the high entertainment tax made it unfeasible to stage a concert in Mumbai."
Backing the events were Venky's India Ltd, the Title Sponsor; NECC and UTV Bindaas, the Associate Sponsors; Kyazoonga.com, the official Ticketing Partner. Also on board are 94.3, Radio One as official Radio Partner; Kingfisher Premium the Good Times Partner and Thrive Entertainment USA as the Event Partner.
In support of Save the Children Foundation, Netsurf Entertainment donated five lacs to the NGO. 2013 Music, Photography, Photojournalism -
Certified B
Certified B raises the curtain on cinema theatres established in the early 20th century. Though decrepit and rundown, these small, single-screen theatres have had quite a glorious run. Today, they still entertain vagrant, truck drivers and the city’s perverts by screening semi-porn, Bhojpuri movies or old hindi films spliced with vulgarity.
Photographer Prasad Naik & Manish Mansinh
Capture the mood of these shady cinema halls of south Mumbai with an exckusive series of photographs. The picture are supported by a pop-up photo studio that lets you immerse yourself into this legendary world of sleaze for a few dirty pictures of your own. Get a voyeuristic peek into it all before it truly is the end. 2013 Fine Arts, Photography, Photojournalism -
The Thought Police Show : Narendra Kumar
The last year has seen the awakening of the youth, a striking 65% majority of our country, leading to strife within the civil society reflecting a clash of generation.
Majority of these situations were addressed by the authorities by turning the other way, hoping that issues would die down while others have resulted in incraceration through arbitrary use of laws that were devised during the British Raj.
Many of these events have led to a sense of trepidation amongst the youth and their parents, especially in Urban India. Rural India has its own issues like the 'khaps' of the world
The youth seeks freedom as enshrined in the constitution and the authorities only answer is to devise various ways to clampdown/monitor them on the basis of vague archaic laws that do not address the changing aspirations of generation, that we believe will make us a global power. Filtering their thoughts, speech and actions will definitely not allow us to realize the potential for greatness that our country has.
Nowhere in the world is democracy being played out as it is in India, as it moved from being an underdeveloped to a developed nation. we have many things to thank the authorities for but many questions to ask!! And to keep questioning is important so as to safeguard the very rights that we have been born into.
In this bold new age of the Internet, what kind of a country would you like to wake up to in the future?? One thet monitors your every tweet, like and post or the one that inspires you!!! 2013 Fashion, Photography, Photojournalism -
Prithvi Theater 29th Memorial Concert
29th memorial concert, prithvi theatre annual concert,
Prithvi Theatre's intimate and acoustically wonderful space is also ideal for Classical music; both vocal and instrumental. As part of the 2nd Prithvi Festival in 1985; Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Shivkumar Sharma performed to a spellbound audience on the 28th of February. The experience of hearing the Suntoor and Tabla up close; un-amplified; and in their acoustic purity was a rare and amazing experience; bringing alive the traditional 'baithak' experience.; Since 1985 Ustad Zakir Hussain has kept his 'date' with Prithvi Theatre - by personally designing magical evenings of musical encounters at Prithvi on 28th February every year.; Over the past 27 years these evenings have included an amazing line-up of musical legends; and young aspiring musicians; both national and international; from genres ranging from classical; fusion; jazz to folk music. 2013 Fine Arts, Photography, Photojournalism -
